Although not able to financially support the ongoing mission of the Church as it once did, Central Presbyterian Church continues to be mission oriented in the use of our faciities and our human resources. Some of the things we support are the following:
Crossroads Connection – This is a Christian community of faith in support of prisoners, those released, and their families, because God’s grace is extended to all. We are a partner congregation with Crossroads, providing worship leadership and meals a few times each year.
Central Preschool – The Preschool began here in 1984. It functions as a separate and distinct non-profit corporation, but is integrally seen as a part of the church’s ministry and outreach to the community. It is organizationally under the umbrella of the Church and under the oversight of the Session.
Food Pantry – Central began a Food Pantry on site in 1970. By 1993, the Pantry was serving more than 4000 people each year, and it was decided to move the pantry to a downtown site, to a faciity that was shared with other organizations committed to serving those most in need. That relationship ended in the early 2000’s, but we continue to work with Nebraska Food Bank and the Presbytery of Missouri River Valley to provide food and other resources for existing pantries in the community.
Scouting – For years, Central Presbyterian Church has opened its doors to Boy Scout Troop 597 and Cub Pack 97, providing not only sponsorship but a place to meet each week and to store all of their gear.
